Stop drilling pilot holes for wall plates. Use the old work box screw as a self tapper and save 20 mins a job
I was on a 6 unit apartment rough in last Tuesday in Mesa and my foreman was on me about time so I stopped drilling pilot holes for the drywall anchors and just ran the screws straight in with the impact. The screws bit right through the drywall and into the stud every single time, no cracked plates, no stripped heads, nothing. Anyone else skipping pilot holes or am I gonna eat these words when I hit a spot with old hard drywall?
