Splicing on a ladder vs. on the ground, which camp are you in?
Honestly, I used to think the guys who refuse to splice up on a ladder were just being dramatic. Like, you're already up there for the drop, why come down, prep the connector, and climb back up? That's like 10 extra minutes per job when you do 8 jobs a day. But last Tuesday, I had a 25-foot run in Bakersfield, and the wind was kicking up something nasty. I tried to do it the lazy way, and the connector twisted on me twice, wasted almost 40 feet of RG6. My foreman just looked at me and said, 'Told you, ground work is where the money's at.' Now I'm leaning the other way, but I still think there's a middle ground if you're careful. Anyone else switch sides on this, or are you strictly one or the other?

Bakersfield winds are no joke, I've had a whole spool turn into a bird's nest up there once. That middle ground works if you got a good hook and you pre-twist the connector on the ground first, but honestly the extra climb is way cheaper than wasted cable.
