Shoutout to the old timer who told me to stop using a impact driver on cable clamps

I stripped six clamps in a row on a new build in Arlington last week, then remembered his advice about hand-tightening them. Has anyone else had their impact driver wreck stuff they didn't expect?

Yeah, I heard that impacts just chew up the softer metal on those things...

Why does everyone assume the chuck is the only weak point on those things? I've seen more problems with the anvil pins shearing off on the higher torque settings than I have with the chuck itself. The softer metal thing is real for the jaws, but the whole housing flexes too if you really lean on it. Nobody ever mentions how the trigger starts acting up after a few hundred cycles either.
