Ran into a nightmare with a buried cable splice yesterday

I was doing a service call in a cul-de-sac off Elm Street and spent nearly 2 hours digging up a splice that was supposed to be marked on the map but wasn't. The tape was wrapped so poorly it had water damage and was causing intermittent signal loss the whole time. How do you guys handle sketchy buried splices when the records are garbage?

Honestly, maybe bad records just mean flexible thinking on the job.

Sounds like the map makers were on break when they labeled that one.
