I was drilling holes the wrong way for 5 years until a homeowner called me out

So I used to always drill through the bottom plate of the wall from the crawlspace up, making a mess with insulation and dust everywhere. This old guy I was working for just shook his head and showed me a trick - drill from the top plate down using a long bit and a vacuum attachment. Took me maybe an extra 5 minutes per run but saved so much cleanup time. Has anyone else had a moment where some random homeowner taught you something you should've already known?
