Finally figured out why my crimps were failing after a year on the job
I used to just squeeze the handles until they stopped... about 3 months ago I noticed half my ends were pulling loose on a big job in Austin. Turns out I wasn't stripping the jacket back far enough before crimping. I measured it out and I needed about 3/8 inch of exposed copper for the RJ45 to grab properly. Anyone else have a simple thing they missed for way too long?

Oh man, that's rough! I totally feel you on missing something simple like that for way too long. Glad you finally got it figured out though, bet it feels good to nail those crimps now.

For me it was footwork on slab climbs. Kept slipping off tiny edges until I realized I was pointing my toes wrong. Started really focusing on precise ball-of-foot placements and it clicked. Have you tried drilling that footwork on easier boulders to build the habit?
