Velcro strips vs. zip ties for desk cables, velcro won after 3 weeks

I redid my home office desk last month and tried zip ties first because they were cheaper, but every time I added or moved a monitor cable I had to cut them off. Switched to a roll of velcro strips for $9 at the hardware store and now I can reroute stuff in seconds without leaving a pile of snipped plastic ends. Anyone else ditch zip ties for velcro or have a better trick for keeping chargers and USB cords sorted under a desk?
