PSA: I zip tied every cable under my desk to one giant anchor point last weekend and now my monitor flickers when the heat kicks on

The "one giant anchor point" thing is exactly where it went wrong. When you bundle every cable to a single spot, any little vibration travels through the whole zip tie and shakes the connector at your monitor. Heat kicking on means the ducts rattle the desk, desk shakes the anchor, anchor yanks every cable at once. Try giving each cable its own loop of slack and only tie them loosely in a few spots instead of cranking them all down to one point. That way the movement gets spread out and nothing tugs on the ports.
