My desk cable tray took 4 hours to mount because I picked the wrong anchors for drywall
Honestly I figured a $14 tray and 30 minutes would fix the rats nest under my monitor, but the plastic toggles kept spinning in the wall. Ngl, by hour 3 I was holding the tray with my chin while digging for a stud with a $6 magnet, and of course there was none. Has anyone found anchors that actually grab in that chalky apartment drywall, or should I just screw a board into the studs and call it done?
Those plastic toggles are junk, the metal snap toggles hold way better in chalky drywall. Skip the board, it looks ugly and now you got holes to patch when you move out. Get the metal ones rated for 50 lbs and you'll be done in 20 minutes.
