My cat turned my 6 outlet strip into a trip hazard and I almost ate it at 3am
Last Tuesday around 3am I got up for water and tripped over a loop of cords my cat had dragged out from under the desk. I counted 6 plugs all yanked sideways in one cheap strip, with a phone charger crossing the hallway to the couch. I fixed it Wednesday with a $9 pack of adhesive clips and a velcro tie, running everything behind the desk leg and up over the top. Took 20 minutes and now nothing touches the floor, but the cat keeps staring at the empty spot like I ruined her game. The 6 footer charging cable is still plugged in, but it lives coiled on a hook when nobody is using it. How do you all keep a cat from fishing cords out from behind furniture without taping everything down?
Small thing, but the clips and velcro didn't actually solve the cat problem, they solved the trip problem. Cats fish cords out because the cord moves and feels like prey, so blocking the floor helps but she'll just find a new spot unless the back of the desk is closed off. A cheap fix is a cable sleeve or a piece of cardboard zip tied across the gap under the desk leg, cat can't reach in, cords stay put.
