Extension cord under the rug almost cooked my apartment
Last Tuesday I found a surge protector under my living room rug smoldering. Three years of walking on it flattened the wire inside and it heated up enough to melt the casing. Check every cord you've got under rugs or furniture, anyone else ever caught this before it sparked?

Cords under rugs are actually fine, you just used a cheap busted protector.
