Switched to drawer slides mid-project and it worked out better than I thought
Honestly, I had this kitchen job last week where I was all set to use standard side-mount slides for the lower cabinets. Ngl, I've always just used those because they're cheap and I know them. But the homeowner asked if I could do soft-close undermount instead, and I was kinda nervous since I've only done them a couple times. I went ahead and picked up a set of Blum slides from the local lumberyard in Tacoma. Took me a bit longer to get the spacing right on the first drawer, like an extra 20 minutes, but once I got the hang of it they went in smooth. The client was real happy with how quiet they are and I gotta admit it feels way more solid than the side-mount ones. Has anyone else made a last-minute switch like that and been glad they did?

... I mean... it's just drawer slides man. It's not like you're reinventing the wheel here. Undermounts have been a thing for years now, they're not some newfangled secret technology. I've swapped mid-project before too, usually cause I messed up my measurements or the hardware I bought was wrong. It's just part of the game. You spent an extra 20 minutes on the first drawer, big deal. Thats like two songs on the radio. I think people overthink this stuff way too much. But hey, if the client is happy then you did your job right I guess.

Hold on, re-read that part where you said "two songs on the radio." What radio station are you listening to where songs only last ten minutes? I need that station, because my local rock station plays songs that are like four minutes max. You got me sitting here trying to do the math on how you fit a whole 20 minute drawer slide job into two songs. That is a weirdly specific flex, man.
