Pocket screw gun jammed mid-project on a set of kitchen cabinets

I was putting together some custom maple cabinets for a kitchen remodel last Thursday. About halfway through attaching the face frames, my pocket screw gun just locked up solid with a screw halfway in. Turns out the bit had worn down and slipped, jamming the collet. I had to take the whole thing apart, clean out the shavings, and replace the bit before I could finish the job. Has anyone else had a similar jam happen with the Kreg unit, or is it just me needing to swap bits more often?

Oh man, that's such a frustrating thing to have happen mid-project! I've had my Kreg jig act up like that before, and it's always when you're in the zone and trying to get things done fast. You're probably right about the bit being the issue, those things wear out quicker than you'd expect if you're driving a lot of screws. I started swapping my bits out every couple of big projects and it made a huge difference with jams. Hope you got those cabinets finished and they turned out great!

Swapping bits every couple of big projects" seems like overkill to me honestly.
