Old timer told me to ditch my quick-grip clamps for pipe clamps on face frames
Met a guy named Jerry at the local Woodcraft in Portland last spring. He said my face frames would stay flatter with old school pipe clamps because the quick-grips flex too much. I tried it on a 10-door job and he was right, the joints came out way tighter with no gaps.

Ended up grabbing a set of the old Jorgensen pipe clamps off Craigslist a few months back after hearing the same thing from a guy at my local lumber yard. He was building cabinets for 40 years and swore by them for face frames. First test run I did a small bath vanity and the difference in joint tightness was honestly night and day. The quick grips just let the wood move around too much when you're trying to get everything square.
