My router bit grabbed a knot and nearly ruined a whole panel
I was routing a dado for some shelves in a big maple slab at my shop in Tacoma. The bit caught on a hidden knot and kicked back hard, gouging a deep line across the face. I freaked out for a second, then grabbed some matching maple dust and mixed it with a bit of glue to make a paste. Filled the gouge, let it dry, and sanded it flat. It's almost invisible now. Anyone have a better trick for fixing tear-out from a nasty knot?

Honestly the dust and glue trick is solid for color match, but I've had better luck with epoxy on deep gouges. It doesn't shrink like glue can. The real thing nobody talks about is how a knot that bad can mean internal stress. I'd keep an eye on that panel for any new cracks or movement over the next few weeks.

That epoxy tip from @fiona_scott44 saved my last project.

Glue the gouge back instead of filling it. Sometimes you can pop the torn piece off clean, glue it back in place, and sand it flush so the grain matches perfect with zero filler needed. That knot was loose already so the tear-out was probably a chunk you could have saved if you caught it before it got swept away.
