Measured a cabinet door 3 times, still cut it 1/8 inch too short on the tablesaw
Was building a set of maple shaker doors for a kitchen job in Rochester last week and got cocky on the last one. I marked it, checked it, then cut it on the tablesaw without double checking the fence lock. Heard the blade grab and watched the rail come out 1/8 inch short, which is a lot when you're doing inset doors. Instead of tossing the whole rail I glued a thin strip back on, re-squared it with my block plane, and it fit perfect. Anyone else ever save a piece like that or do you just start over?
Glued a strip back on and called it a save, that's some surgeon level stuff right there. I usually just stare at the short piece for a minute like it's gonna grow back before I grab a new one. Nice work on the fix though, inset doors don't forgive much.
