I was dead set against using drawer slides with soft-close until a job in Austin changed my mind

Had a custom bathroom vanity in Austin where the homeowner insisted on them. I fought it, told them it was just more stuff to break over time. After installing them and seeing how smooth they felt, I finally got it. Has anyone else had a project totally flip their opinion on a certain hardware or approach?

I was the exact same way until I put soft-close slides in my own kitchen and realized I'd been living like a caveman slamming drawers shut my whole life. The Austin job sounds like it came out real nice, and now I'm the guy who opens a cabinet just to hear that quiet little click at the end. Did the homeowner end up picking a specific brand that held up well, or was it just the standard Blum stuff?

Three Blum drawers deep into my own kitchen redo I realized I'd been living like an actual raccoon throwing silverware around. The homeowner went with some off brand from a local supply house but honestly they feel identical to the Blum ones I used later.
