Customer supplied Blum hinges and wondered why his doors sagged after a week

Had a guy bring in his own hinges for a kitchen redo, said they were top of the line. Turns out they were knockoffs from some online auction, 2mm thinner plate and all. Doors dropped like a rock by day 5. I swapped them for the real ones, ate the cost of labor. He blamed me at first, then compared the two side by side and went quiet. How do you handle people who insist on buying their own hardware?
