A finish carpenter watched me hang a cabinet door for 30 seconds and said I was fighting myself
Honestly I was pretty proud of my door hanging until this guy doing trim work on the same job stopped and watched me for a bit. He said 'you're fighting yourself' and showed me I was holding the door with one hand and driving screws with the other, so the hinge plate kept walking on me. He told me to clamp a scrap block under the door first and just let the door sit on it while I set the screws. Took me 4 hours on the next set of uppers instead of the 7 I usually burn, and the reveals came out straight the first time. Anybody else got a small setup trick like that from a guy on site who didn't even do cabinets?
