Why does nobody talk about how fast home inspection dates sneak up on you

I put an offer on a place in Austin last Thursday and suddenly the inspection was scheduled for Monday morning. I barely had time to find a good inspector so I just went with the first guy my realtor suggested. He missed a crack in the foundation that a contractor quoted me $4,500 to fix. Has anyone else had their realtor push them to use their buddy and then regret it later?

What is it about realtors and their "guy" for everything? I once had a home inspector who spent more time talking about his golf game than checking the attic, and I ended up with a mold problem that cost me a nice used Honda. Your $4,500 foundation crack sounds about right for that rushed panic, huh?
