Vent: Everyone says buy in up-and-coming areas, but my quiet street is perfect.
I just closed on a house in an older part of town. People told me it was a bad investment, but I love the mature trees and lower prices. It feels like home already.

Jackhammers every morning sounds like a personal hell.

Look, people get too caught up in "up-and-coming" spots... but an older street with big trees and lower prices is a smart move too. Those mature trees cut down on AC bills and add charm you can't fake. A quiet area means less noise and more knowing your neighbors... that's real value. My buddy in a hot new area deals with jackhammers every morning, while my cousin's settled spot just feels like home. Sometimes the best investment is the one that lets you sleep at night.
