Unpopular opinion: I skipped the home inspection on my condo in Tampa and it was the best decision I made.

Everyone told me I was crazy, but the unit was a 2018 build and the seller had all the original builder warranties. I saved $500 on the inspection fee and closed in 21 days. The real risk was losing the place to another buyer. Has anyone else gambled on a newer build like this?

That 2018 build date is basically the condo equivalent of a car with the new car smell still hanging on. You got lucky the factory didn't forget to install a wall.

Used to think anything built after 2010 was basically disposable. Then my buddy bought a 2019 unit and the difference is wild. No weird creaks, the finishes actually feel solid, and everything still works like it should. Makes me get the hype now.

Forget a wall, I'm still waiting for my 2018 place to get the cabinet doors that actually close all the way. The factory smell is just covering up the sound of the bathroom fan that hums the national anthem. It's like they used all the good screws on the show unit and then just used glue and hope for the rest of the building. You really did get lucky.
