Took me 6 months to get approved for a USDA loan in rural Oregon
I thought I had all my ducks in a row (credit score was fine, income was steady, no big debts) but the underwriter kept coming back with more requests. First it was proof I didn't have any late utility payments, then they wanted a letter explaining a 2-year-old gap in my employment when I worked seasonal tree work. Then the appraisal came back low and the seller wouldn't budge. By the time we closed it had been 6 months and 2 days from when I first applied. Has anyone else dealt with USDA loans taking forever? What was your timeline?

Thought I was the only one who needed a blood sample and a handwritten promise for that USDA loan, guess they just really wanted to make sure you were committed to that rural life.

I mean is it really that deep though, my buddy got approved in like two weeks with just his pay stubs and a phone call. Idk feels like it depends more on who you get on the phone that day.
