Threw $500 at a pre-inspection repair that wasn't even needed

Our home inspector flagged a roof patch as a major leak risk, so I paid a roofer $500 to replace shingles before closing. Turns out the patch was fine and the inspector was just being extra cautious. Has anyone else paid for fixes based on inspection reports that turned out to be total overkill?

Happens way more than people want to admit. I've seen inspectors flag harmless stuff just to cover their own backsides. Your mileage may vary, but that $500 probably bought you peace of mind even if it wasn't necessary.

Wait, @sage_perry, you actually paid someone $500 for that?
