The difference a $500 sewer scope made on a house in Tacoma

We were about to put an offer on a cute 1950s place last month... the inspection seemed fine. Our agent, Karen, pushed for a sewer scope and we found a belly in the line that would have cost $8k to fix. The sellers wouldn't budge, so we walked. Saw it back on the market this week for $15k less with 'as-is' plumbing. Has anyone else had a seller drop the price that much after a big inspection find?

That's a classic move, honestly. Sellers often try to hide behind an "as-is" label when they get spooked by a big repair bill. You dodged a bullet by walking away. That price drop just proves the scope was worth every penny, doesn't it?

Ugh, that's so frustrating. Good on you for listening to Karen and getting that scope done. Saved yourself a huge headache.

No kidding, @noahs82 nailed it. Had almost the same thing happen on a place in Portland last year. Seller knocked off $12k after a scope showed a busted clay line, felt like a win until I realized I could've saved way more if I'd walked first.
