That fiber optic inspection saved me 8 grand on a house in Phoenix
Back in 2019 I almost backed out of a deal on a 3 bed ranch because the home inspector said the sewer line had a belly in it and I figured that was a 10k nightmare. Turned out a buddy in real estate convinced me to pay $150 for a camera scope and the repair was just a $600 cleanout job, totally fine. Has anyone else had a doubt about something like that turn out way cheaper than you thought?

I'm gonna push back a little on the idea that it's "totally fine" just because it was $600 this time. You got lucky that the belly wasn't anything serious but sewer lines can be a total crapshoot. Plenty of people pay for a camera scope and find roots growing through the pipe or a collapsed section that really does cost 8k to dig up. I'd say the real lesson here is that a camera inspection is worth doing but don't assume every problem is a tiny fix just because other people got off easy. You still took a risk that could've gone the other way.
