The scope showed a break under the driveway, but the city planning office kept asking for extra paperwork. Anyone else get stuck in permit hell during a purchase?

Ugh that sounds brutal but just a heads up, that's usually the city's utility department or public works that handles sewer permits, not planning. Planning deals with land use and buildings. Still a total nightmare either way, I've seen people get stuck for months over a tiny stamp missing from a form.

I always blamed planning too, but you're right, it's usually a different office that causes the hold-up.
