My home inspection took 6 hours instead of the promised 2.5
I booked a home inspector for a 1950s ranch in Columbus and he found a hidden sump pump pit behind drywall in the basement. The extra time to check drainage and waterproofing pushed us past noon and I paid $425 instead of the $300 quote. Has anyone else had an inspection run way over schedule for a hidden issue?

Used to think quick inspections were fine, but this convinced me thorough is better.

Doesn't this happen with so many things though? We think we can take shortcuts, like glancing at a car or skimming a recipe, and then one bad experience teaches us that the extra time was worth it. I've started noticing how often people rush through stuff that really needs careful attention, whether it's checking a tire pressure or just reading the directions on a medicine bottle. It's like we're all learning the hard way that slow and steady really does beat fast and sloppy in the long run.
