I never thought I'd spend that much on a home inspection
The quote came back at $850, which seemed crazy high compared to what my friends paid. But the inspector spent 4 hours on site and found a major foundation crack I would have missed. Has anyone else felt a high inspection fee was actually worth it?

Totally get that sticker shock, mine was over seven hundred and I almost passed out. The guy found faulty wiring that would have cost me thousands later. Sometimes the price really does match the work they put in. A cheap inspection can miss the big stuff and end up being way more expensive.
