Appreciation post: I thought a home inspection was just a box to check

My realtor pushed for one hard when we bought our place in Boise. The guy found a cracked heat exchanger in the furnace, a $4,000 fix the seller covered. Anyone else have an inspection find something that saved them big?

Honestly thought it was a waste of money. Found a bad roof leak and saved me from a nightmare.

Seriously, get the sewer line scoped too. Our inspector missed that and we had to replace the whole main line. That extra check is worth every penny.

Did your inspector catch anything that made you glad you paid for it? Mine found knob and tube wiring hiding behind insulation in the attic. I almost skipped the whole inspection, thought it was just another fee they push. The seller ended up covering two grand to have it replaced by a licensed electrician. Totally changed how I look at the whole process. I tell everyone now to never waive that contingency.
