Warning: that lifetime warranty on my $180 boots did not cover what I thought

I read the fine print on my boot warranty last week and found out the sole is only covered for 1 year while the stitching is covered for life, which seems backwards to me. The lady at the counter in Boise said the sole is considered normal wear, so my $180 boots are basically done at year two. Has anyone actually gotten a resole covered, or is this how every boot brand works now?
