My $8 thrift store toaster from 1974 is still going, the $70 one I bought lasted 14 months
Bought a chrome Sunbeam at a Goodwill in Tulsa for $8 back in 2019, mostly as a joke. The brand new one I paid $70 for died in just over a year, but the old one still pops perfect toast on the same setting. The thing weighs like 4 pounds and I'm pretty sure you could run it over with a truck. Anyone else notice older small appliances just refuse to die?
Course in college talked about this, planned obsolescence. They literally build stuff to die now. My mom's old Mixmaster from the 80s still runs and mine crapped out in two years.
