I just learned my $12 rice cooker from 2011 has a hidden steamer tray that I never used until now
Last week I was cleaning out my kitchen cabinet and found the little plastic tray that came with my rice cooker. I bought this thing at a garage sale in Austin for $12 back in 2011 and shoved the tray in a drawer thinking it was junk. Turns out it sits right on top of the inner pot and lets you steam veggies while the rice cooks below. I tried it with some broccoli and carrots last night and they came out perfect in about 15 minutes. The manual was long gone but I looked up the model number online and found a PDF that explained it. I have been cooking rice in this thing for over a decade and never knew it could do two things at once. Now I use it almost every day and it still works like new. Has anyone else found a hidden feature on a kitchen gadget they owned for ages?
