PSA: My uncle's 'just use the saw' advice for a pork shoulder cost me a customer

He always said a bandsaw was for lazy butchers, but after I hand-sawed through a bone and left grit in a $75 roast, the lady complained to the shop owner. Anyone else have an old-school tip that actually backfired?

My grandpa's "just sharpen it more" rule ruined a whole brisket.

That's a tough way to lose a good piece of meat.

Honestly, that old school pride can really blind you to the tools we have now. Like nancy275 said, it's a shame to waste good meat over a stubborn idea. Sometimes the "right" way is just the way that doesn't ruin the product for the person paying for it. A bit of grit in a roast proves the tool was wrong for the job, not the worker. Sticking to bad advice just to seem tough costs more than your pride in the end.
