Hit 100 whole pigs broken down last week and it finally clicked

I've been at this for about 18 months and never counted until my coworker mentioned it - turns out I passed 100 pig breakdowns without even realizing. It surprised me because I still feel like a beginner some days, but that number made me feel like I'm actually picking up the trade.

100 pigs in 18 months averages out to maybe two a week depending on breaks. That feels low for something that's supposed to be a big milestone. I'd question if your coworker was just trying to make you feel better about the number.

That "feels low for something that's supposed to be a big milestone" part is spot on. It reminds me of how people always talk about "reading 50 books a year" or "running a marathon" like those things are magical achievements. But really, two pigs a week over 18 months is pretty solid if you think about the grind of it. Same way someone learning guitar who practices 15 min a day for a year will get way better than someone who brags about "playing for 10 years" but barely touched the thing. The numbers sound small when you break them down, but consistency over time is what actually moves the needle. Your coworker might genuinely think 100 is a big deal because they see the overall effort, not just the weekly count.
