The hotel in Denver had a USB-C port built into the nightstand and it fried my $40 Anker cable in one night
I stayed at a place near the Denver airport last week and the nightstand had one of those built-in USB-C ports, so I plugged my phone in overnight and woke up to a cable that was hot and dead. The port was putting out way too much power for the cheap cable I brought, and now I'm out 40 bucks and my phone barely charged past 60 percent. Has anyone else run into those hotel built-in ports killing their cables, or am I just unlucky?

Wait the port was "putting out way too much power"? That's actually wild, I didn't even know those built in ports could do that. I always just assumed they were weak and slow, not strong enough to straight up cook a cable overnight. That's kind of scary tbh, makes me not wanna plug into those ever again.
