Stop buying magnetic USB-C adapters for phones you drop

I saw 3 posts this week from people whose port got ripped out when the magnetic part stayed on the cable and the phone fell. The magnet holds strong enough to yank the whole connector loose. Happened to my buddy in Denver last month, his Galaxy now needs a new port, $85 repair. I used one for 2 weeks and went back to normal cables. Too many moving parts for something that gets tugged daily. Has anyone else seen these fail on older phones with shallow ports?

Read somewhere the magnets can mess with phone compasses too, not just ports.
