Spent 3 hours chasing a bad charge on my Pixel 7a when it was a $6 cable the whole time
Phone kept saying it was charging but the battery would drop overnight. I swapped chargers, cleaned the port with a toothpick, even did a factory reset. Turned out the Amazon Basics cable I grabbed at the Denver airport had a bent pin inside the connector that I could only see with a flashlight. Check your cables with a light before you waste a whole Saturday on this like I did.
Man, I did the same thing with a bent USB-C that came with some knockoff earbuds, drove me nuts for a week. Weird how the phone still shows the charging bolt even when almost nothing is actually getting through.
