I don't baby my USB-C cables and none of them have failed on me in 3 years

I keep reading posts here about people wrapping cables in velcro, storing them in cases, and never bending them past a certain angle. I do the opposite. I toss my cables loose in my backpack, loop them tight around my hand, and yank them out of my phone by the cord. Out of the 6 USB-C cables I bought at a Micro Center in Chicago about 3 years ago, all 6 still work fine. The two that died on me were both cheap gas station cables my girlfriend grabbed when she forgot hers. I think people blame the cable when the real issue is a dirty port or a weak charger pushing too much heat. Has anyone actually tested a cable to failure and figured out what killed it first, the connector or the wire?
