Can we talk about how I used to baby my cables, now I just let them go

Back in 2018 I treated every USB-C cord like it was made of glass, wrapped them in velcro, never bent them past a gentle curve. But after 6 months of that, the braided one at my desk in Chicago started flickering anyway, so I gave up on the whole routine. Now I just toss them in my bag, yank them out by the wire, and let them lie in knots on the floor. Truth is, the cheap ones from the gas station near the station last just as long as the $25 fancy ones I used to baby. The only real killer is where the plug meets the housing, and no amount of careful winding fixes that weak spot. Anyone else ditch the careful treatment and see zero extra failures?

Oh man, so the gas station cords are the real MVPs here? Did you ever actually compare the death rate side by side, or did the fancy ones just fail slower so it felt like they were better?
