Was sure my brother was nuts for using plumber's putty on the tub drain, now I'm eating crow
Six months ago my brother helped me swap the drain in my upstairs tub in Boise, and he packed the whole thing with putty instead of the silicone I had already bought. I figured it would turn into a goopy mess and leak through the ceiling, so we argued about it for a solid 20 minutes in the hallway. Well, the silicone job I did on the guest bath drain started dripping 4 months later, while his putty drain is still bone dry. Now I honestly can't tell if putty is actually better or if he just got lucky and I want to hear which side people land on. Anybody got a horror story that proves one of these is the real winner?
