Vent: my brother-in-law tried to fix a running toilet with duct tape and a prayer
We were at his place in Columbus last Sunday and he spent 2 hours on that toilet with nothing but duct tape and a YouTube video. He kept saying "it's just a flapper, how hard can it be," and then the tank cracked loose and water hit the ceiling. My sister handed him a towel and just walked out to the porch. I thought I was bad at fixing stuff until I watched him turn a $12 part into a $450 plumber bill. What is the dumbest thing you've seen someone try to patch instead of just calling a pro?
