Tried to fix the drip under my sink with a $4 washer and flooded the cabinet twice
Found out from a plumbing forum that my shutoff valve is a gate valve from 1987 and those things fail closed, so my "quick fix" turned into a Saturday with a bucket. Second attempt dumped about 2 gallons into the cabinet before I got the water cut at the street. Anyone know if a quarter turn valve is worth paying someone to install, or should I keep rolling the dice?
