Rant: I put 4 whole potatoes down my garbage disposal and now my kitchen smells like a pond

Last Saturday I had a bag of potatoes going soft, so I peeled them and shoved all 4 down the disposal instead of the trash like a genius. The disposal ran fine for about 3 seconds, then made a noise like a wood chipper eating a log and just quit. Water backed up into both sinks and sat there for 2 days because I kept dumping more water in hoping it would flush through. My wife came home and said "why does our kitchen smell like a pond" which was fair honestly. I ended up snaking the drain by hand and pulling out a paste of potato mush that had glued itself to the pipe wall. I learned that starchy stuff turns into actual cement once it hits water down there, so now I want to know, what foods have quietly wrecked your sink and how did you get it out?
