PSA: Paid a guy $400 to regrout my shower, and it started peeling in a week
Figured I'd skip the DIY route after screwing up my kitchen backsplash two winters ago, so I hired a guy who quoted me $400 for the whole shower. Turns out he just smeared grout over the old crud without scraping anything, and by day six it was cracking off in chunks while water got behind the tile. Anybody know if there's a way to tell a real regrout job from a cheap paint-over before you hand someone the cash?
