Took me 9 days to figure out our card reader kept dropping because of one ancient router setting
Back in 2019 we had a Square reader at the shop that would lose connection maybe 15 times a day, and I figured it was the wifi, so I bought a new access point, moved it around, even had the cable guy out twice to the place on Oak Street. Turned out the old router had a setting called "IGMP snooping" turned on, and once I flipped that off the drops stopped completely. Nine days of messing with hardware for a checkbox. Anyone else run into a setting like that quietly wrecking your connection?

That IGMP snooping checkbox probably wasn't your real problem, since most routers ship with it on by default and half the world runs fine that way.
