PSA: I put my shop's router on a $19 battery backup and it saved a $4k Friday
Last Friday around 2pm a truck clipped the pole outside my office in Tulsa and our power died mid card payment. My main router was on the shop's big UPS but the little cable modem was plugged straight into the wall, so everything went dark anyway. I ran out and grabbed a $19 battery backup from the hardware store on the corner, plugged the modem into it, and we were back online in under 4 minutes. Three years of just assuming the big UPS covered everything, and it was the cheap part that mattered most. Has anyone else found a dumb gap like that in their setup?
