Tried a weekly spread with minimal decoration after seeing all those elaborate ones online
For the past two years I was doing these heavily decorated weekly spreads. Stickers, washi tape, multiple colored pens, the whole thing. It looked great but I was spending nearly 45 minutes every Sunday setting it up. Last month I tried a bare bones approach. Just black pen, a simple grid, and a small box for each day. No frills at all. I actually get more use out of it now because I'm not afraid to make a mistake or mess up a pretty design. Has anyone else found that simpler spreads work better for actual tracking?

My buddy Jason went through the same thing last year. He had this whole sticker system with color coded sections and these little decorative tabs he cut out by hand. Took him like an hour every week. Then his dog chewed up his sticker stash and he just started using a plain notebook with a ballpoint pen. He told me last week he actually keeps up with it now because he writes stuff down even if his handwriting looks like a chicken scratch.

I actually read a study once that said people who keep journals with messy handwriting often remember things better than those with perfect systems, go figure. @felix_thomas73 sounds like your buddy stumbled into the same thing by accident after his dog wrecked his setup.
