Saw a YouTuber use washi tape as a ruler, total game changer for my setup

I was watching this setup video last Tuesday and the girl just ripped off a strip of washi tape and used its edge to line up her month grid. Never crossed my mind to do that, I always struggle with a wobbly ruler. Tried it in my journal that night and the lines came out so clean, plus now I have a designated tape for layouts. Has anyone else got a random everyday item that replaced a tool in their bujo kit?

Washi tape has this weird thing where the paper fibers give just enough grip that it won't slide once you press it down, unlike a plastic ruler on slick paper. That grip is the whole trick. Most people fix the wobbly line problem by holding the ruler harder, but the real issue is the ruler slipping sideways in the first place. Tape solves it because it stays put and you can peel it right back up. Cheap masking tape works too if you press it flat, but it can leave gunk on the page. Never thought about keeping one roll just for this, that part is smart.
