I switched from a weekly spread back to daily logs after 6 months and I can actually keep up now
I tried running a weekly spread for about 6 months and I kept abandoning it by Wednesday. The problem was I would set up a whole page on Sunday and then stuff would change and I would feel bad wasting the paper. So last month I went back to plain daily logs and just let them run as long as I need. It feels way less fussy and I have not skipped a single day since. I even stopped numbering them, I just write the date at the top and go. Has anyone else bailed on weekly spreads and just stuck with dailies long term?
Wait, you stopped numbering them too? How do you find anything later when you need to look back at an old entry? I get that dailies feel less fussy, but the whole point of a planner is that you can flip back and see when you did something or when a thing started. If every page just has a date and no number, you are basically making a diary, not a planner. I ran dailies for a while and the pile got messy fast, stuff from three weeks ago buried under random notes. It sounds like the weekly spread was not the real problem, the problem was you felt bad about wasted paper, which is its own thing to fix.
